Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply?
Use the application form on this page — complete the online form and attach your resume. Please include copies of any relevant licences or qualifications.
What licences and certificates do I need?
Requirements vary by role and state or territory. In most cases, you’ll need:
- A current state or territory security licence appropriate to the role (e.g., VIC Private Security Individual Licence) matching the duties (unarmed, crowd control, control room, etc.).
- First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009).
- Government-issued photo ID and full Australian work rights.
Some sites may also require an RSA, White Card, Working With Children Check, infection control training, or other role-specific credentials. Check each job listing for the exact requirements.
Can I apply if I don’t have security experience?
Yes, for some entry-level roles.
While experience is valued, we also look for professionalism, reliability, strong communication skills, and the right attitude. You must still hold the required security licence before starting operational duties.
When will I hear back about my application?
You’ll receive an acknowledgement email once your application is submitted.
Our recruitment team reviews applications on a rolling basis and contacts shortlisted candidates for the next steps. Timeframes vary by role and location, but if you haven’t heard back within two weeks, you’re welcome to follow up.
Do you offer casual, part-time and full-time roles?
Yes. We recruit across casual, part-time, and full-time roles depending on client and site needs.
Many sites operate 24/7, so shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
What checks do I need to pass?
All roles require right-to-work verification and reference checks. Depending on the site, additional checks may include:
- National Police Check
- Working With Children Check
- Medical, drug and alcohol screening
- Vaccination evidence (for healthcare environments)
- Additional government or site-specific clearances
Do you provide uniforms and equipment?
Yes. Uniform standards vary by contract.
NPS provides core uniform items and any site-specific equipment during induction. Officers are typically required to supply black duty boots and a smartphone for rostering and communication.
Can I work around study or family commitments?
Often, yes.
Many of our officers balance work with study or personal responsibilities. Let us know your availability when applying, and we’ll aim to match you with suitable shifts where operationally possible.
Do you sponsor visas?
At this time, we primarily recruit candidates with current Australian work rights.
If your visa status changes, you can update our team and we’ll advise on eligibility where possible.
What if my licence or certification is close to expiring?
Please renew as early as possible.
If you’re progressing through recruitment, let us know your renewal timeline so we can confirm any grace periods or site-specific requirements.
